Virus Updates

Canadore College currently uses Norton Anti-Virus to protect its users data and computers from virus attacks.

During the course of a year there are many different new viruses released onto the internet. These are perpetuated by unsuspecting users that choose not to protect themselves or do not know how.

Norton Anti-Virus allows for new viruses by continually updating the database of viruses and their fixes. These updates are downloaded and stored on Canadore's network for use by all staff and faculty.

ITS has recently begun to use a Norton Anti-Virus feature called Managed Solution. Each workstation and server in the College will be visited to upgrade the currently installed version of Norton Anti-Virus. Once this is complete all computers using the Managed Solution will be automatically upgraded as new virus definitions are made available by Symantec.
