Electrical Techniques
 

Learn about the Electrical Trade in Canadore’s Electrical Techniques program. There is a high demand for employees in the electrical field as existing tradespeople approach the age of retirement.

This course covers the basic skills that employers in the electrical field are demanding. Focus on residential and commercial wiring methods allows students to get a real feel for this trade while giving them the knowledge and skills needed to make them highly sought-after. Smart homes technology, wireless technology and network wiring methods are part of the curriculum. The demand for this technology in homes and businesses continues to increase, presenting new and profitable job opportunities for skilled workers.

This program deals with aspects of electrical construction related to residential and commercial environments. Program learning objectives have been designed to cover the basic level Electrical Apprenticeship program. Students develop competencies in basic electricity, network cabling, and electrical system installation. Related instruction in mathematics, prints and installations, and trade calculations is included to enable students to meet the qualifications requested by employers. A variety of laboratory and field projects are undertaken using the latest technology to provide actual practice situations.

Admission Requirements:


Ontario Secondary School Diploma at or above the general level or its equivalent. Grade 12 English or equivalent is required.

Mature Students:
Ontario residents aged 19 or over without the OSSD will be considered on the basis of their results on the College’s Mature Student Test.

Graduates of the new Ontario Secondary School Curriculum:
Ontario Secondary School Diploma with courses from the College (C), University (U), University/ College (M), or Open (O) preparation levels.

Required courses:
Grade 12 Compulsory English (ENG 4C or ENG 4U).
