Canadore College Graphic Design Students
Set The “Scene” for Design
Canadore College students, in their third and graduating year of the Graphic Design program, will be hosting an art exhibit over the next month at the WKP Kennedy Gallery. The exhibit, entitled “The Scene of Design”, will showcase their hard work and creativity over the past three years.
“The Scene of Design” will be on display from April 1st to April 10th, 2005, in Gallery I at the WKP Kennedy Gallery, and the opening event will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2005 at 6:00 p.m. Members of the community are encouraged to visit the Gallery to support the students, promote their creativity and enjoy the exhibit.
Each of the students involved will exhibit their work, with the various pieces of artwork being a compilation based on all of their courses from the last three years. These include: typography, design, photography, colour theory, illustration, pre-press and web design.
The students will be showcasing their annual exhibits of work as an assigned task for their graduating year. This project is designed to experience the challenges of developing and organizing an exhibit.
“By doing all of this work we, as instructors, hope that the students will gain an understanding of life’s challenges and to get the experience with working in a gallery, and finding out what works and what doesn’t in the gallery scene” said professor Shirley Mondoux. “The importance of the display is not only to showcase our students, but also to offer the community an opportunity to see the wide range of work accomplished in the program.”
All faculty, staff and students in the Graphic Design program appreciate the ongoing support of the WKP Kennedy Gallery and the community.
