Canadore Looks to Community for Student Housing
Canadore College is hoping to find more housing for its students and is reaching out to the community for help.
Canadore’s student confirmations are up by 14 per cent and yet vacancy rates in the city hover around 1.9 per cent.
Canadore has two residence complexes that accommodate 497 people, but both are full to capacity this year.
“The shortages of rental housing in the community are compounded by increasing enrolment at Canadore College, with demand for residence space exceeding capacity,” said Shawn Chorney, Director of Campus Life. “We are working towards increased capacity in student housing and are appealing to the community to consider renting to a student.”
The College also maintains an off-campus housing site, www.offcampusrez.on.ca. Perspective landlords can register on the site by calling the residence office at 474-7600 ext 5357.
