Grade 8 Students Being Put To Work

Canadore Hosts "Skilled Trades: Career Choice for a Prosperous Future" Initiative

This Friday, February 6, 2004, Canadore College will be putting 150 local grade 8 students to work. The students will be participating in the second phase of the "Skilled Trades: Career Choice for a Prosperous Future" initiative, an event designed to bring local students to Canadore to participate in sessions that will educate them about the skilled trades, introduce various career possibilities, and hopefully, lead them to consider trades as a career option.

Each student will participate in three, half-hour interactive sessions at Canadore's Commerce Court Campus. The experiential sessions will focus on areas including: Small Engine - Recreation, Small Engine - Marine, Vehicle Electronics, Heavy Duty Truck Engine Electronics, Computerized Precision Machining, Information Technology Support Analyst, Carpentry/Cabinetmaking, Welder-Fitter, and Motive Power.
