Canadore Student Graphic Art Displayed on City Bus
Canadore College Graphic Design student Amanda Clark is getting some major exposure this summer with her award-winning artwork being displayed on the back of a North Bay city bus until September 2007.
Clark’s artwork is the winning image for the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit’s 2007 West Nile Poster Campaign. The campaign’s purpose is to create more awareness about the virus in the region.
"The belief that West Nile is not a concern in our area is not accurate. In fact, we have had human cases of West Nile virus in the North Bay Parry Sound area," said Brendan Hatton, Public Health Inspector with the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit.
“The winning poster was chosen because it was visually powerful; it emphasized the mosquito and some simple ways people can protect themselves.”
In January, the Health Unit partnered with Canadore’s Graphic Design program to enlist students to compete for the winning poster in this district-wide awareness campaign.
