Canadore Board Approves Strategic Plan

Canadore College's Board of Governors approved the College's three year strategic plan at its meeting on Tuesday, April 20, 2004. The 2004-2006 plan will undertake the first steps towards the Canadore 2012 vision, which was approved by the Board in December 2003. In this initial phase, Canadore will create the foundation for leading in student success.

Canadore's strategic activities will focus on 16 objectives that form the means to achieve four goals. Each year, measurable results will be articulated through the President's Annual Workplan, which will in turn, be supported by divisional annual operational plans.

'In December, our Board adopted a new vision, that we call Canadore 2012,' said Cindy Boston, Chair of the Canadore College Board of Governors. 'Today, we have approved a three year strategic plan that sets us on the path to achieving our vision to provide an exceptional living and learning environment, which supports the success and satisfaction of our students, employees and the community.'

The four goals identified in the 2004-2006 strategic plan are:

1. To enhance program quality, currency, and responsiveness to student needs;

2. To develop a highly collegial and supportive learning and working environment;

3. Through collaboration with our educational and community partners, to improve and expand educational pathways; and

4. To strengthen Canadore's institutional viability and its position as a community college.

This approved plan represents the first of three three-year strategic plans that will be developed as the College works towards achieving its Canadore 2012 vision, which states:

Canadore College will lead in student success. We will provide a superior working environment for our faculty and staff, and through them, an exceptional living and learning environment for our students and clients. Students will be attracted to the challenging yet supportive experience we create.

Canadore College will provide high quality programs and services that will contribute to success in tomorrow's workplace and society. We will work in partnership with our communities, and optimize the unique relationship with our university partner, as we focus on excelling as a community college.

'This three-year strategic plan was developed to enable Canadore College to embrace and achieve our Canadore 2012 vision,' said Canadore College President Barbara Taylor. 'It further enforces Canadore's commitment to our students, staff, faculty, administration and community, and highlights our role as a true community college, dedicated to excellence in all that we do.'
