Canadore College Professor Phil Cowcill has published his first textbook, titled 'Application Development with Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004 using ASP.NET'.
The book, which was released in February, is published by Thomson Course Technology as part of the Web Warrior series, and is being sold worldwide to colleges and universities.
'The book focuses on developing powerful and interactive web sites, where the content is stored within a database,' said Mr. Cowcill. 'It teaches developers some elegant development tricks using Microsoft's ASP.NET technology.'
Cowcill presented a copy of the textbook to Canadore College President Barbara Taylor and Barbara Lee, Associate Director of Library Services, on June 15, 2004, for inclusion in the Education Centre library.
'The publication of Phil's textbook is a testament to his skills and knowledge of the subject area,' said Taylor. 'He is an asset to the college and certainly, to our students and graduates.'
Cowcill is the coordinator of Canadore's Interactive Multimedia program, a post-diploma program, geared towards college and university graduates, as well as mature students. Interactive Multimedia students learn the newest techniques in Web and Flash development, as well as techniques for creating interactive DVD using digital video and 3D animations.
