Canadore Launches Online Newspaper

Canadore College is pleased to introduce North Bay’s newest news and entertainment source with the launch of online newspaper, The Claw, on Friday, October 28, 2005.

The website, developed by LACmedia, will be maintained by Canadore journalism students and faculty. Online features will include local campus and city headlines, sports and entertainment news, and a column and forum section.

Special guests of the event will include Hamilton Spectator editor and Canadore graduate, Carla Ammerata and Canadore President, Barbara Taylor.

"Theclaw.ca will give our students a chance to operate with literally minute-to-minute deadlines covering all types of stories and the opportunity to be read by people on the other side of the world,” said Mark Furlong, professor Journalism Print and Broadcast program.

“Not only that, but the website will help recruit new students to the Journalism program and attract other students to the college. Technology has allowed us to maximize the learning opportunity for our students and enhance the profile of the college and our program."

The launch will take place in the Weaver Auditorium on Friday, October 28, 2005 between 1 p.m. and 1:30. p.m.
