For Immediate Release: March 14, 2008
National Co-operative Education Week
Canadore College’s School of Business Co-op program, in conjunction with the Canadian Association for Co-operative Education (CAFCE), is celebrating National Co-operative Education (Co-op) Week from March 17 to 21.
Canadore is an active member of CAFCE. Established in 1973, CAFCE is a national, non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring the growth and quality of co-operative education programs across the country.
Co-op Week is a national celebration of CAFCE’s 35th Anniversary. Co-operative education is an opportunity for students to apply what they have learned in the classroom, gain valuable experience, network with professionals in the field and make money to help pay for their education.
Employers investing in co-op programs reap the benefits of reducing time-consuming and costly recruiting, hiring and training efforts. By investing in Canadore co-op business students, employers expand their pool of qualified workers and address the shortage of available skilled employees. Also, many co-op students continue to work for the employer after the placement has finished.
Mayor Victor Fedeli signed a Proclamation declaring March 17 to 21 as National Co-operative Education Week in North Bay. Celebrate this week by hiring a Canadore College School of Business co-op student.
