Canadore Receives Industry Support for New Program

Last night Canadore College received strong industry support at its third Thinking Forward Symposium where business leaders discussed progressive industry trends with a focus on both community and global direction.

John Cutsey, President of FDM4 International Inc. said: “In this day and age, technology platforms are moving away from traditional programming and towards mobile device applications. I am most excited to hear that Canadore is introducing a Mobile Apps program, which will prepare its students for exciting employment in sectors like mine.”

This event was the last of three summits planned for the year. Invitees and College representatives had the opportunity to discuss the vital changes needed within sector operations and environments to promote health, sustainability, growth and continued success.

"Canadore is dedicated to being responsive to industry needs. Our goal is to better understand how the College can support local businesses to achieve greater success and our connection with industry helps us to build a strong Canadore and an even stronger community," said Canadore President George Burton.

Earlier this week, the College announced funding approval from the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities for two new programs for the Fall 2011 semester – Civil Engineering Technician and Mobile Application Development. Canadore is also expecting to receive MTCU approval for an additional two programs, Financial Services Certificate and Rural Recreation Certificate, in the near future.

Over 80 business people and Canadore administrators have participated in the Thinking Forward Symposium events held over the last three months. The College will be hosting three additional events in the fall.
