Canadore Boasts Highest College Graduation Rate in Province

According to the provincial Key Performance Indicator (KPI) survey results released today, Canadore College boasts the highest graduation rate amongst the 24 public colleges in Ontario. For the past five years, Canadore has been exceeding the provincial average and this year is no different with a considerable 7.9 per cent.

“We couldn’t be more excited about our benchmark graduation rate. We pride ourselves on student success, and these latest statistics are proof that we are on the right track and serve as a testament of the efforts of our faculty and staff,” said George Burton, President of Canadore College.

Overall, Canadore was above the provincial average in four areas. In addition to the highest graduation rate in Ontario, students and graduates rate the College higher than its provincial peers in graduate satisfaction, quality of learning experience and satisfaction with the knowledge and skills learned.

Two independent research firms have conducted KPI research for the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities since 1998. The information gathered measure the success rates and satisfaction levels for college students and graduates. The most recent findings for Canadore are:

  • 89.5 per cent of students were satisfied with the knowledge and skills needed for their career (87.1 per cent provincial average)
  • 82.7 per cent of students were satisfied with the overall quality of learning experience in their program (80.2 provincial average)
  • 79.7 per cent of graduates were satisfied with their education (79.1 provincial average)
  • 72.1 per cent overall graduation rate (64.2 per cent provincial average)

“It is very encouraging to see that we are above or similar to the rest of the provincial colleges. Our faculty and staff are dedicated to helping our students achieve success, and we have been documenting incremental gains in every area of the measured areas. We will continue to work with our partners, government and communities to continue this forward trend.” said Burton.
