Canadore College Graphic Design Students Hold Exhibit
Sixteen Canadore College students, in their third year of the Graphic Design program, will be hosting an art exhibit this month at the WKP Kennedy Gallery. The exhibit, entitled ?Lights, Camera, Graphics?, will showcase their work and creativity over the past three years.
?Lights, Camera, Graphics? will be on display from March 13th to 27th, 2004, in Gallery I at the WKP Kennedy Gallery, and community members are encouraged to visit the centre to support the students, foster their creativity and enjoy the exhibit.
Each of the students involved will exhibit their work, with the various pieces of artwork being a compilation based on all of their courses to date. These include: typography, design, photography, colour theory, illustration, pre-press and web design.
The exhibition is part of an assignment whereby students are each assigned tasks, designed to provide real experience in developing and organizing an exhibit.
?By doing all of this work we, as instructors, hope that the students will gain an understanding of real deadlines, working in a team environment, dealing with professionals in industry, such as printers and the curator, and finally, gaining a true appreciation for their work? said professor Shirley Mondoux. ?The importance of the display is not only to showcase our students, but also to offer the community an opportunity to see the wide range of work accomplished in the program.?
All faculty, staff and students in the Graphic Design Production program appreciate the ongoing support of the WKP Kennedy Gallery and the community.
