Canadore Hosts Fusion Conference

Over 200 potters and clay artists are travelling to Canadore from across Ontario for Fusion: The Clay And Glass Association of Ontario Conference on May 26 to 28.

Headliner for the event is internationally renowned potter Robin Hopper, the first recipient of the Saidye Bronfman Craft Award, the highest craft award in Canada.

Hopper has written books and created a number of videos about clay and has been a guest
lecturer all over the world. He lives near Victoria, BC.

The event will feature a number of workshops by leading Ontario potters such as Michael Collins, Robert Tetu, Judy Donaldson, Chris Seddon, Dan Maxwell and Keith Campbell, Canadore’s Artist in Residence.

There will also be a number of exhibits at the Education Centre Campus such as Fusion Presents Ontario, 200 clay works from across Ontario, and Clay Artists of the North Bay Region, a display of area clay artists.

This is the third time Canadore has hosted the Fusion Conference in 26 years and North Bay is
the only northern Ontario city to host this provincial event. Canadore College will be presenting North Bay as the center for craft in northern Ontario by inviting conference participants to visit some of our cultural attractions including the WKP Kennedy Gallery, the White Water
Gallery, Art On Main, the Joan Ferneyhough Gallery, the Capitol Centre, the waterfront and the carousels.
