Convocation for Mattawa Welding Students
Canadore College is pleased to announce that seven students will be graduating from its 24-week Mechanical Techniques – Welder Fitter Ontario certificate program on August 4 in Mattawa. This is the second graduating class from the program, which had its first intake in 2005.
The program, which is offered out of Canadore’s satellite campus, was created because of a need for skilled workers in the area. The program emphasizes the safe and practical application of welding procedures including, plate steel welding, aluminum welding, oxy-acetylene welding, gas metal arc and gas tungsten arc welding, as well as, brazing and cutting techniques.
The Convocation Exercises will be held on Friday between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. at F.J. McElligott Secondary School, located at 370 Pine St. Special guests include M.P.P Monique Smith, Mattawa Mayor Dean Backer, Township of Bonfield Mayor Narry McCarthy, and Canadore President Barbara Taylor.
