Canadore and Georgian To Sign Historic Agreement
 
On Friday, September 10, 2004, at 2:00 p.m., Canadore College and Georgian College will sign an historic agreement, which will see Canadore assume full responsibility for providing college programs and services to the Parry Sound area.
 
The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding will take place at the current Georgian College campus in Parry Sound, 26 James Street.

Canadore College President Barbara Taylor, and Georgian College President Brian Tamblyn, will be on hand for the event.


Background

At their April 20, 2004 board meeting, the Canadore College Board of Governors gave College President Barbara Taylor the go-ahead to extend service to the Parry Sound area. Georgian College had been providing service to the area and has been working with Canadore to transition responsibility of the Parry Sound campus over the last several months.

Canadore has indicated that its first priority is to ensure that the best interests of the students and staff at the Parry Sound campus are met. Both colleges are committed to ensuring that there is no disruption to students currently enrolled at Georgian College.
