Canadore Wins at Skills Competition
Canadore College came home a winner from the Ontario Technological Skills Competition in Waterloo on May 1 and 2.
Canadore won the first place award for outstanding interactive display at Skills Canada-Ontario’s Careers Showcase during the Skills Competition. Canadore staff and students showcased the wide variety of skilled trades careers available. Through interactive demonstrations students discovered how to operate, assemble, and repair with their own hands.
Each year Skills Canada-Ontario coordinates the Skills Competition where over 1500 students from across Ontario test their skills and abilities against industry standards in over 40 skilled trades contests. As part of the competition, the Careers Showcase provides a forum for industry, corporations, government agencies and colleges and universities to exhibit career opportunities in the skilled trades to over 10,000 visitors including, elementary and secondary students, teachers, parents and the general public.
Canadore was well represented with interactive exhibits displaying Liaison/Information and the Welder Fitter, Marine and Small Powered Equipment and Electrical Techniques programs.
