Canadore Receives Helicopter Donation

Eurocopter Canada Limited (Eurocopter) donated a helicopter to Canadore College late last month. The helicopter, donated in parts and components, will be built and maintained by Canadore aviation students.

?Our success at our Fort Erie (Ontario) operation is a result of our excellent technicians ? and half of our technicians are Canadore College graduates,? said Benoit Marcoux, Vice President of Operations for Eurocopter and graduate of Canadore?s Aircraft Maintenance Technician program. ?This is our way of giving back to the College, its aviation programs and students.?

?Eurocopter has been a fantastic supporter of Canadore College and our graduates,? said Murray Peterson, Aviation Program Coordinator at Canadore. ?Their donation will provide students in all of our aviation programs an opportunity to build and maintain a state-of-the-art AS350 helicopter.?

Canadore?s Aviation Campus, co-located with the North Bay Jack Garland Airport, is a $12.5 million, world-class facility, which opened in September 2002. The College trains students in the areas of Aircraft Structural Repair, Avionics and Aircraft Maintenance.

?Canadore College is appreciative and proud of the support and endorsements that our aviation programs have received from industry. Eurocopter?s commitment to the College, through donations and employment of our graduates, speaks volumes to the exceptional training that we provide,? commented Canadore Vice President of Technical Services Ewen Cornick. ?We?re also very happy to see our graduates going on to successful careers, as Mr. Marcoux has done, and giving back to the College as an alumnus.?

Eurocopter Canada Limited has been manufacturing in Canada since 1984 in Fort Erie, Ontario, and currently employs 150 people. Eurocopter provides a wide range of multi?purpose helicopters along with customer service for nearly 250 Eurocopter helicopters in Canada. Eurocopter Canada Limited is the Canadian subsidiary of Eurocopter SA, based in France.
