Canadore College Faculty Presented with National Entrepreneurship Award
Bob Walpole, Program Coordinator of the Small Business Programs at Canadore College, was recently presented with the National John Dobson Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurship (ACE) Fellow of the Year Award. The purpose of the award is to recognize a faculty advisor who has made an outstanding contribution in the past academic year as a mentor and coach to students interested in entrepreneurship.
For the second year in a row, Professor Walpole and his entrepreneurial ACE team captured the silver medal at the ACE National Championships, which saw 32 university and college teams from across Canada compete to represent Canada at the Students In Free Enterprise World Cup to be held for the first time in North America this October. The role of an ACE team is to help advance Canadian entrepreneurship in its community by developing and running innovative, creative, and effective educational outreach projects and entrepreneurial initiatives.
ACE President, David Henderson remarked, “Faculty Advisors are instrumental to the long term success of any ACE Team. We are pleased to recognize Bob for his outstanding support to ACE Canadore - his dedication makes a positive impact on his students, which has in turn helped to make his team one of the best in the country.”
“This award was not possible without the selfless contributions of many others at Canadore, including all of the wonderful ACE students with whom I have had the privilege to work ,” said Walpole. “The students have enriched my life to an extent I could never repay.”
