Another Successful Canadian Pond Hockey Face-Off

2008 Pond Hockey ActionThe Third Annual Northern Honda Canadian Pond Hockey Face-Off wrapped up in the afternoon on Playoff Sunday.

The weather was a challenge as teams battled through the freezing rain on the eight rinks on the Education Centre Pond behind Canadore College but the spirit of pond hockey prevailed. In the men’s competitive division Cor Maximus edged CTV 22-15.

Other weekend highlights included an exhibition game Saturday afternoon for the North Bay North Stars Special Needs Hockey game. Before the face-off Canadian Pond Hockey Face-Off organizer Debbie Marson presented the team a $500.00 cheque.

The Atlanta Jr. Thrashers fell in overtime to Standard Auto Glass in the Peewee division final. The Thrashers team included three boys from Atlanta and three boys from North Bay as part of the tournaments unique Pond Hockey Outreach Program which created the all-expense paid experience for the team from the Southern United States.

The puck will drop for the 2009 Fourth Annual Canadian Pond Hockey Face-Off on February 13th, 14th, and 15th.
