The ETS adheres strictly to Canadian Copyright laws and will not permit duplicating of copyright materials beyond the current college licensing agreement. Permission sheets may be picked up at the checkout desk or contact Access Copyright.

Audiovisual and Copyright
Videos and DVDs shown in libraries, classrooms, and schools are considered public performances and are subject to Canadian copyright legislation. All videos or DVD’s owned by Educational Technology Services - Commerce Court have Public Performance Rights. Videos borrowed from video stores and public libraries are for Home Use Only. Therefore, it is illegal to watch Home Use Only videos at Canadore College unless the video is covered by a licensing agreement.

Licensing Agreements
Canadore College is covered by the Education Centre Library licensing agreements for the right to exhibit various feature films on video or DVD, in the facility, for educational purposes only. The agreements do not cover non-educational presentations by associated organizations such as student associations, community groups, etc. or screenings to the general public. Contact the Education Centre Library to verify you can show the film in class. Programs must be legally manufactured copies and not taped from television.

Record Keeping for Films
A written report listing each of the videos exhibited must be sent to the licensing agents each month. Please contact the Education Centre Library to report all showings of feature films.

Fines
Loan time for equipment and software is 24 hours. Late fines will be enforced as follows:

1 - 3 days: $2.00/day/item

4 days or more: $1.00/day/item

Food/Beverages
Food and beverages are not permitted in Educational Technology Services.
