Calligraphy is the art of beautiful writing. Students enrolled in this workshop will be introduced to an easy to write, easy to learn handwriting style which has a multitude of practical applications such as designing monograms, cards, scrapbooks or a family tree.

Your present handwriting is not an indicator of your success in calligraphy. You need absolutely no artistic ability to master elegant penmanship.

A calligraphy pen and ink cartridges will be required for this workshop.

Underpainting Your Success

Incorporating the right details, while simplifying the rest is best accomplished through a certain procedure which can be taught. This process is known as the ‘grisaille’. We will incorporate drawing and proper values using a charcoal underpainting, and then paint thin layers of acrylic colour on top to complete the process. Oil painting procedures may also be discussed.
