Cable TV
Basic cable service is provided in the common area and individual bedrooms at each residence location.
Telephone & Long Distance
Each room in residence is provided with local telephone service with features including voice mail and call forwarding. Long distance packages are available through our preferred provider Primus Canada.
Internet
Internet service is provided in all residence bedrooms. You will be required to provide your own Ethernet cord and have a current anti-virus product installed. Please note that our internet service is designed for academic purposes only and will not accommodate gaming, file-sharing or uploading/downloading of large amounts of material.
Transportation
Each fulltime Canadore student is issued a city bus pass allowing unlimited travel within the city of North Bay. Buses to the main campus run every 15 minutes during peak periods. In addition to regular bus service there is one direct shuttle bus each morning to both the Aviation and Commerce Court campuses from both residence locations.
Residence Assistants
Residence Assistants (RAs) are upper year students who serve as resource people, activity coordinators and peer counselors. It is their responsibility to share the benefit of their college/residence experience with new residents. In addition to being a resource for information about residence and college life they are responsible for communicating and enforcing Residence Community Living Standards.
Laundry Facilities
There are two coin-operated laundry rooms located at the townhouse residence and one in the apartment residence. There is also a dry cleaning depot at Pal’s Variety located in the Student Centre.
Mail
Mailboxes are located in the foyer of the residence offices. Mail is delivered each week day. If you receive a parcel we will place a slip in your mailbox notifying you to pick up your parcel at the Residence office. Stamped outgoing mail can also be dropped off at the Residence office.
Security
Campus Security is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and officers are on site in Residence daily from 9:00 pm until 7:00 am. Security surveillance cameras are located throughout residence to assist in providing a safe and secure environment.
Medical Services
The Campus Health Centre is staffed by a full-time family physician and registered nurses and provides a wide array of medical services. The centre is open from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm Monday to Friday.
