On Friday April 13th 2012, Canadore College Athletics will host the 43rd Annual Athletics Awards Banquet. The attendees include Canadore athletes, coaches, staff and Alumni Board members, who will gather in the Canadore Dining Room for an evening of awards, recognition, and to review the highlights of the past year.

Last night, Wednesday February 15th, the Canadore Panthers men’s and women’s varsity volleyball teams took to the court for their final league and home game against the Nipissing Lakers. Although the end results were in favour of the Lakers, both our men’s and women’s Panthers battled until the very end.

The Canadore Panthers Varsity Volleyball teams are playing host to the Nipissing Lakers in the Panther’s final home games of the season, on Wednesday February 15th, 2012 at the Education Centre Gymnasium. The women will take the court at 6:00 p.m., followed by the men at 8:00 p.m.

Panther Athletic Teams Tier System

Tier 1 - Varsity Program

Our Men's and Women's volleyball program are proud members of the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association. Our panther volleyball program provides the elite athlete the opportunity to tryout and represent Canadore College at a high competitive level in sport. Athletes will participate in a yearlong OCAA provincial league sport format followed by OCAA provincials.

Team tryout sessions are scheduled, players are evaluated and team rosters are determined by mid October.

Commitment Includes: 3 practices week, 2.0 Grade Point Average, frequent overnight travel.

Tier 2 - Panther Club Programs

Our men's and women's indoor soccer programs provide our student athletes with opportunity to tryout and represent Canadore College in the following competitive formats throughout the academic year:

  1. North Bay competitive city soccer league. Women's play Saturday evenings and men's play Sunday mornings.
  2. Participate in one extramural indoor soccer tournament vs. other college club teams in preparation for OCAA regional's.
  3. Participate in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Men's and Women's Indoor Soccer Regional play downs at the Vaughn Soccer Centre first week of March. This is a qualifying tournament for the OCAA provincials later in the month.

Commitment Includes: 1-2 practices week, 2.0 Grade Point Average, some overnight travel.

Tier 3- Club Programs

Our Panther Club team programs provide the student with a more competitive challenge than you might typically get in our Campus Recreation program. Team tryout sessions are scheduled, players are evaluated and team rosters are determined by mid October.

Panther Club Basketball participates in the Canadore/Nipissing City League -Oct thru March and is entered in two college extramural tournaments vs. other college club teams.

Panther Club Hockey players participate in four extramural provincial tournaments vs. other college club teams and practice once per week at the Pete Palangio Arena.

Commitment Includes: 1-2 practices week, 2.0 Grade Point Average, some overnight travel.
