Battle of the Bay Re-Match
The battle for volleyball bragging rights in North Bay is happening on Thursday, January 31, 2008 as the Canadore College Panthers host the Nipissing University Lakers. The women's game starts at 6 PM and the men are scheduled for an 8 PM start, and both games will be played out of the Education Centre Gym.
The Canadore women (0-11) are coming off a loss at Mohawk College. Head Coach Joey Rainer comments, "I am looking forward to the match-up. It is always a good game, full of energy and heart, and I am expecting that the ladies step up their performance, especially after the loss at Mohawk on the weekend." The Nipissing women (8-3) are currently sitting in 3rd place in the OCAA Central West.
On the men's side, the Canadore Panthers (1-8) are coming off a loss in Hamilton against the Mohawk Mountaineers. The match-up should be an exciting one since in November the game went to 4 close sets with Nipissing being the winner. The Panthers would like to have some redemption on the court this time around. The Nipissing men currently sit just above .500 at 5-4.
