This past Wednesday, the Canadore Athletics Department held its annual Winterfest down at the Commerce Court Campus. Students and staff, alike, participated in a number of games and competitions for the right to be crowned as the “Kings” or “Queens” of Winterfest.

The 2007 installation of Winterfest saw 16 teams, 130 participants; battle their opponents in road hockey, dodgeball, and armwrestling. When the dust (and snow) settled, the Marine and Small Engine team led by Scotty “the Dodger” McLaughlin took home the Winterfest Trophy by narrowly edging Rod, Jim and the Theatre Arts’ers.

This year, the students also had the opportunity to win bursaries through the generosity of the staff and faculty, and the idea of Jeff Francom and the group in Information Systems.

I would like to personally thank all the volunteers and helpers that made Winterfest the success it was!
