Strong Showing at Sheridan Invitation
The Lady Panthers made their tournament debut at Sheridan College this past weekend.
In their first match on Friday afternoon, the ladies earned a split against a tough Niagara squad - second year middle player, Lisa Bedard, opened up the second set with ten consecutive serves. The second match saw the Panthers take a few steps back losing in straight sets to MAC U-18.
On Saturday morning the ladies were poised to earn a birth in the playoff round. Led by third year captain Sophie Rocheleau, the Panthers swept both Boreal and Trent before losing in the playoff round to a very talented Mohowk team.
"I thought the girls played at the level in which they are capable of, and i think they are ready to take the next step." said second year head coach, Joey Rainer.
The Lady Panthers will now look forward to The Cambrian Kabuum Tournament in three weeks time. At last years Kabuum Tournament, the Ladies brought back the Consolation Championship.
